Lin Yingping, considered as the most talent successor of Caozhou
music school, held a solo concert on the 26th of March. Unlike the
strong flavor of the northern school music, Caozhou school music, as
the representative of the southern school music, is known for its
elegance and detailed bending. A graduate of Central Music
Conservatory, Lin Yingping brought the modern techniques into
Caozhou music.
In thi concert, Lin Yingping presented traditional Caozhou pieces as well
as new compositions in Caozhou style. Lin, for the first time in
Caozhou Music history, also performed well-known Caozhou classics
“A Lady Named Liuqin” with the Orchestra.
Lin Yingping is invited to play in Lincoln Center, New York, next month.
It’s considered the first Chinese zheng player to perform Caozhou
music in Lincoln Center.
