| Luo Xiaoci Premiered New Compositions in Recent Shanghai Concert 2007-12-30 |

Shanghai Folk Orchestra's leading guzheng player Luo Xiaoci held a
solo concert on Dec 29th. This was her first solo concert since 2002.
Luo Xiaoci surprised her audiences with world premiere of her new
compositions in addition to the strong and remarkable program.
During the first half, Luo started with "Butterfly Loving Flower", an epic
concerto piece written by Wang Jianming. It's followed with a traditional
Chaozhou piece "Winter Duck Playing Water", a modern composition
"The Fantasy", and "Deep in the Night" from Peking opera. She
showed variety and her capability in different styles.
In the second half, Luo Xiaoci played four of her new compositions. In
"The Ink Play", she brought the audience into a brush painting like
scene of water and mountain. "Fisherman's Proud" and "Like a Dream"
are two singing and playing pieces that she showed her beautiful voice.
In the "String, Delight", she mimiced Indian music with a steel-stringed
guzheng.
