Yuan Sha started learning to play guzheng when she was six years old
with Ms. Liu Miao. In 1987, she entered the primary school attached to
the Central Conservatory Music; in 1990, as an excellent student, she
entered the middle school of the Central Conservatory of Music directly;
in 1996, again she entered the Department of the Central Conservatory
of Music directly, receiving instruction from Professor Li Meng; in 1998,
she held a successful solo-playing concert; and in 1999, she was
recommended to be a guzheng post-graduate by the Central
Conservatory of Music. She has always been an outstanding student,
and gained numerous awards and titles in China.
Yuan Sha became a mature and excellent Guzheng player on the stage,
still when she was in the university. With her musical talent and perfect
playing skill, she had hold several concerts, including playing in the TV
program in about twenty countries and regions in all over the world. The
foreign critics said she was the player who showed the harmonious
connection between the Chinese traditional music and contemporary
music. She even played guzheng cooperating with the piano maestro Liu
Shikun in the famous music hall of Geneva Conservatory of Music in
Swiss. She gained the enthusiastic praises from the reviewers. In
August 2001, she and her sister, Yuan Li hold a special concert
successfully. In this concert, she invited maestro Liu Shikun to
accompany for a classical music. It excited the audiences. Yuan Sha
becomes and outstanding guzheng player in the new generation of the
Chinese traditional music.
